
URUMQI, Aug. 27 -- One person was killed and one is missing after a steel plant caught fire in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at noon on Thursday, said local authorities.
The fire broke out at 12:30 p.m. during an overhaul operation at Bayi Iron and Steel Co., Ltd in Urumqi, the regional capital. Bayi Iron and Steel is a subsidiary of Shanghai-based Baosteel Group.
The fire was put out one hour later. The cause is being investigated.
