Qingdao Airlines recently says that they have banned a flight attendant from flying because she exceeds the height-to-weight ratio requirement, according to Thepaper.cn.
A representative from the company admits that they have tightened the weight requirement recently, but denied that any staff have been barred or dismissed over the issue.
The requirement reads as follows: a flight attendant must be between 165-172 cm (65-68 inches) in height and 50-68 kg (110-150 lb).
'We are concerned that exceeding weight standards will compromise the ability of cabin crew members to respond in emergency situations, and we hope the crew can maintain good body shape,' the airline representative told Thepaper.cn of their requirements.
