A conceptual capsule would take passengers from Beijing to New York through a tube in only two hours.
This is more than a pipe dream. The inspirational system, Evacuated Tube Transport (ETT), has been patented since 1999.
Working with parties in China, ETT said they have sold more than a dozen licenses for the companies.
According to ETT’s plan, the tubes are maintained at near vacuum conditions. The system is silent, cheaper than planes, trains and cars, and faster than jets.
