Chinese President Xi Jinping began his first state visit to the United States on Sept. 22. What will his wife Peng Liyuan get up to during the visit?
According to Beijing News, Peng will visit Seattle’s Lincoln High School along with her husband. Peng and Xi will also attend the state banquet held by US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama in Washington DC on Sept. 25. Besides that, Peng will attend activities which focus on children, education and charity.
Peng will show an image of China to the US through "soft diplomacy" and is a "name card of China", said Chen Mingming, Member of the Public Diplomacy Advisory Committee of the Foreign Ministry.
Coming down the stairs
On each of her visits with her husband, Peng’s image is the focus of all sides. Foreign media describe her as "China's soft power”.

Moreover, the couple frequently interact with each other, showing the world the affection of China’s leading couple.
