The traditional moon cake in Zhangye is a local folk culture which has history of 1000 years. People would make moon cakes of different shapes like animals, vegetables, moon, etc. and put them on the table facing up the moon during the Mid-autumn Festival. After the ceremony, they would keep the moon cakes at home to pray for a better and affluent life.
