"Liyuan style", a term that's used to describe the style of China's first lady Peng Liyuan, has become associated with elegance and grace and as a symbol of modern China.
Peng is known for wearing designs with Chinese elements, from the traditional qipao to more modern designs. Her love of China is also seen in the details, from the cut of collars to her accessories with pearls, embroidered scarves and brooches.
Peng Liyuan has also adopted Western tastes into her choice of clothes. She seems to prefer looks with Western-inspired silhouettes and China-inspired fabrics or patterns.
In an expression of harmony, Peng Liyuan and Xi Jinping have appeared in public several times in outfits that echo one another, not just in style, but also in color.
Peng has also shown her frugality by wearing the same items at different occasions, and creating a new look each time through mixing and matching items.
