Shanghai becomes the hottest destination for independent travelers during the National Day holidays in China, according to data provided by Ctrip, a domestic travel agency.
This year the National Day holiday falls very soon after the Mid-Autumn Festival. By combining the two holidays, some tourists are able to enjoy a particularly long vacation. The number of people traveling during the National Day holidays is expected to reach a record high.
According to Ctrip, the data show that during the National Day Holidays, theme parks, ecological parks and ancient towns have become the favorite destinations for Chinese travelers. Hot springs and island tours are also popular.
Due to the range of attractions and facilities, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces will be the prime choice for most Chinese who travel during this "Golden Week" holiday.
A tour of hot springs is the preference for travelers from the Yangtze River Delta region. The cities of Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and their surroundings become the hottest destinations for travelers in South China.
Ecological travel is preferred by travelers from southwest China's Sichuan, Chongqing and Yunnan provinces. Beautiful Mount Emei and the cities of Dujiangyan in Sichuan and Chongqing will become the hot tourist sites in southwest China during the National Day Holidays.
