“We chose to travel around China by motorbike at the age of 28 because at this age we have very few burdens. Our parents can take care of themselves and we’ve no mortgage,” said Jiang Lingchuan who has always longed for leisurely travel.
Jiang came back to Chengdu on Oct. 1 with his girlfriend Yanzi after ending their almost year-long trip around China. The post-1980 couple quit their jobs last November and set out from Chengdu to travel around China by motorbike. They have covered 39, 236 kilometers and passed through more than a hundred cities.
They didn’t tell their parents about their travel plans because they fear their parents would not take it well. Jiang took his girlfriend to his parents’ home on Oct. 6. Instead of scolding them, his parents showed their understanding and treated them to a wonderful meal.
Jiang was born in a small town and dreamed of traveling around China when he was little boy. Jiang Lingchuan met Yanzi on a trip in 2012 and they got into a relationship in 2014. Then Jiang talked his girlfriend out of her job and prepared the trip. The journey cost them 140,000 yuan. “All the money we earned by ourselves,” said Jiang. The travel is a kind of testimony to their love.
