
China’s leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solution ZTE together with South African telecom giant MTN, now connects the residents of Fancourt Estate, a high-end golf estatein George, South Africa, to a high speed fiber network capable of delivering speeds of 100Mbps.
According to MTN Marketing Manager IshantSukdeo, MTN is planning to roll out Fiber To The Home nationwide, targeting at high-end estates and suburbs at this stage. It’s looking at expanding around 50,000 households within a year.
Meanwhile, the South African government eyes 100% broadband connectivity in the country by 2020 as part of critical government policies, which means all the population should have access to the Internet at private homes, in school libraries or by public facilities.
