Ou Yan, a Russian man who fell in love with a Chinese girl, started to learn to cook fried stinky tofu in a small shop after he learned that the girl loves the snack. He wanted to give her a big surprise after he grasps the cooking techniques.

The students nearby thought he was not only romantic but also very handsome. Many of them even took photos of him which made the Russian man go viral recently.

Ou Yan is 22 years old. His mother is a Ukrainian and father is a Russian. Having lived in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province for five years, he can speak Mandarin and fluent dialect of Shaanxi Province. He majored in Foreign Chinese and International Relations in Shaanxi Normal University. He plans to work in China.

Ou's beloved girl is a sophomore in the nearby University of Technology. Once he found that this girl was very happy to eat the fried stinky tofu, so he made up the mind that he would say 'I love you' to her after learning how to cook this famous snack.

Facing questions people often ask, he said, "Buying the fried stinky tofu is totally different from cooking it myself. I want to give her a surprise."
