“I will start to save money now. By the time I can afford a diamond ring, I will ask you to marry me.” To realize his promise from 20 years ago, Liangliang, a man in Fuyang, eastern China’s Anhui province, carried over 150 kilograms in coins to a jewelry store on Aug. 1, 2015 to buy a diamond ring. It took four saleswomen a day to count the exact amount. Eventually Liangliang customized a diamond ring worth 12,000 yuan (the total amount of the coins) and planned a surprise proposal for his girlfriend.
