Railway stations in Guangzhou have seen travel peak before the Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival. A total of 174,000 passengers were transported at Guangzhou Railway Station and 146,000 passengers at the East Railway Station. Some trains were delayed on Feb. 1 due to the rare snow in central and eastern Chinese provinces, leaving about 100,000 travelers to wait outside the station. The railway department has called on passengers not to arrive at the railway stations three hours before their train leaves.
