A special gala show has been staged at a women's prison in northeast China's Jilin Province to celebrate the approaching Chinese New Year.

In the most eagerly anticipated part of the gala, inmates along with prison guards took to the catwalk to show off costumes they had made themselves.

A mini drama, based on real life events, was also performed, telling the story of how released prisoners and police officers together rescued an inmate's kidnapped daughter.

Family members of prisoners as well as police officers also attended the annual event.
