Will you be surprised when you receive gifts of your age one day? As parents, how do you record the growth of your children? A post-80s couple in Qingdao city, east China's Shandong province sent their baby daughter a special gift — hand-drawn pictures of 24 solar terms.
In the past year, the young couple drew a whole set of pictures of 24 solar terms and recorded some representative events and days with paintings for their daughter — Baobao. They were not professional painters; the father even did not have any experience in drawing.
Some of their works were original and others were copies of other people. But people can feel the deep love in these pictures. The drawing style of the father gradually became gentle, warm and skilled.
The 24 solar terms are determined by changes in the sun’s position in the zodiac during the year. They were first used in China, and now are followed in many other parts of the world. In China, the 24 solar terms were created thousands of years ago to guide agricultural production. They also reflect China’s rich history through the seasonal festivals, special foods, cultural ceremonies, family gatherings and even healthy living tips that correspond with each solar term.
