An 84-year-old man named Qiao Dewei professed his love to his wife through an illumination which spells "I love U" on the facade of a hotel on the evening of Valentine's Day in Xiaoshan, Hangzhou city in east China.
Passers-by were deeply moved when the grey-haired man said "I love you" to his wife who was wearing a wedding dress.
Qiao and his wife Liu Shixiu have been married for 67 years, during which they have shared ups and downs, but in all their years together, neither of the couple has done anything romantic nor said "I love you".
“We were there for each other even through the toughest days,” said Qiao.
According to Zhang, Qiao's grandson, back in the day his grandparents didn’t even have a marriage license and Qiao has never said "I love you" to Liu. Since Liu's health is not so good, her husband wanted to express his love to her in person.
Therefore Zhang contacted the hotel about his grandfather's idea a month ago and came up with the design.
The hotel reserved all 220 rooms facing the street for the illumination. Their story has gone viral on social media. Netizens say that the couple’s true love is precious and makes them believe in love again.
