Aviation industry predicts that China will replace the U.S. to become world's largest passenger aircraft buyer in the future 20 years, according to a report on Beijing Times.
Despite a slowdown in economic growth, aviation giants at the Singapore Airshow still view China as the most promising market in the near future and beyond.
Boeing predicted that China will buy 6,330 new commercial airplanes worth around USD 950 billion over the next 20 years.
Airbus China said that since 2010, the number of new aircraft deliveries has remained above 100 every year, with a total of 158 aircraft delivered last year, representing about one quarter of the total number in the Asia Pacific region.
Over the next 20 years, Airbus expects China to require about 5,400 new planes, comprising 40 per cent of its deliveries for the whole Asia Pacific region.
Multinational conglomerate Honeywell has been present in the Chinese market for decades. Its Asia Pacific Business Development Director Paul Nef told Xinhua that China, as a huge market, still has great potential in the aviation industry.
"Most major cities in China now have airports, but many of the middle-sized cities don't have as of yet. A middle-sized city can be seen as a major city in other countries, so there's plenty of potential in China."
China's efforts to promote air travel make international aviation companies feel optimistic about China's aviation market
An official from Civil Aviation Administration of China said in January that China will invest around 77 billion yuan in airports and other civil aviation infrastructure constructions in 2016.
Besides, an insider of the industry said that Boeing wants to compete with Airbus in market shares in China for the company is in inferior position in the competition in China.
