| A picture of Min's back. |
Min is originally from Wenzhou, a city in China’s eastern Zhejiang province, but he now lives in Spain. Having recently gone from a low-profile cook to a billionaire who lives next-door to a soccer star, Min’s story has circulated far and wide.
Eighteen years ago, when Min first moved to Spain, he probably never imagined that he would be a billionaire one day. Then in June 2014, Min won the lottery, which entitled him to a prize of 137.3 million euros (equal to 990 million yuan). The news of his win was kept secret until recently; after Min attempted to put his money to use through charity work, he suddenly became well known.
Min’s friends all say Min is very low-key. Even after winning the lottery, he never shows off in front of people. As a matter of fact, this jackpot is not the first that Min won. Early in September 2013, he also won a lottery jackpot of 1.86 million euros. Min thinks it was his wife who brought him all the luck, since the first time win occurred 48 days after he brought his wife and son to Spain.
Apart from the luxurious house that he bought, Min has not spent much of his winnings. He put most of his money in the bank and sticks to low-risk investments. Min feels very grateful to the country of Spain, where he still lives with his family.
