Volunteers from wildlife conservation groups spotted and identified 20 snow leopards in northwest China's ?Xinjiang? Uygur Autonomous Region, after they set up 100 camera traps near Xinjiang's provincial capital Urumqi.
From the year 2014 to 2016, they retrieved dover a thousand photos of snow leopards and pieced together the rare first-hand material of snow leopards' courtship, childbirth and family life.
An estimated 3,500 to 7,000 snow leopards live in the wild, in addition to 600 to 700 more in zoos worldwide. Around 2,000 to 2,500 wild snow leopards live in ??China? alone.
