On November 7, 2013, a car accident in Daly City caused Rebecca osteoarthritis and made her disabled from work and school. They moved here from Eureka a week ago to wait for the accident settlement. She said that “I used to be a cashier, waitress, at school. Now no one wants to hire us because of my back problem. I can only earn 2 to 3 dollars per hour by sparing change. We’ve had so many doors shut in our face.”

“He’s my protector,” Rebecca said. “There’s one time some guys wanted to rape me and murder him. He saved us from that.” Speaking of her plan after the lawsuit settlement, she said, “If I can win, and I can recover. I want to go back to school. I want a family with him. A baby. But I don’t know how fertile I’m – I’ve had miscarriages three times since the car accident.”
