Ai Fukuhara, a female Japanese table tennis player well known among the Chinese people, won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics. She participated in the Olympics 4 times since the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Male table tennis player Jiang Hongjie from Taipei, Taiwan won the World Youth Table Tennis Championship Tournament in 2005.
The couple will participate in the Rio Olympics together and they have said that they will not go on dates during the Games. They are set to get married after the Olympics.
