On 31 December 2016, the five-day 2016 China-Laos-Vietnam (Pu'er) Border Trade Fair was opened in Jiangcheng Hani and Yi Autonomous County.
At the Opening Ceremony, Khamphoy Vannasane, a member of the Standing Committee of the Phongsaly Provincial Committee, Deputy Governor of Phongsaly Province, and Head of the delegation of four provinces in northern Laos, and Vu Hong Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Dien Bien Province, and Head of the Vietnamese delegation, delivered speeches. Lu Ping, Mayor of Pu'er, announced the opening of the "2016 China-Laos-Vietnam (Pu'er) Border Trade Fair."
By means of commodity exhibition and trade, as well as economic and trade negotiations, the Fair showed domestic merchants the brand images of products from different countries, introduced the industrial advantages of the products, and cemented exchange and cooperation between domestic merchants and their foreign counterparts. Project contracts with a total of 2.7589 billion RMB in investment were signed during the Fair, including three productive projects with a total of 1.52 billion RMB in investment, and two operational projects with a total of 1.2389 billion RMB in investment.
