
A newly thawed spring is flowing through the wild birch forest in the southern margin of the Altai Mountains, which are located in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Despite the temperature--minus 43.5 degrees Celsius--a stream of water 2 kilometers long and 3 meters wide formed a glittering, translucent necklace around the forest, China News reported on March 1.
