In 2012, Zhang Jiwen and his wife began to build roads at their own expense in the deep forests of Fuling County, Chongqing Municipality. Though Zhang has a hearing disability and his wife has an eye condition, they managed to finish the construction of a major mountain road that makes life easier for surrounding residents. The couple is now working on a second mountain road, which is an even tougher task than the first.
