Sansha City, located on Yongxing Island, one of the Xisha Islands in Hainan province, was founded on July 24, 2012. The city relies on tourism and administers three island groups – Xisha, Zhongsha, and Nansha – along with surrounding waters. The prefecture-level city has the largest sea area, smallest land area, and smallest population in China. Sansha has a warm climate, charming islands, sincere fisherfolk, and exquisite maritime scenery.
