Fu Zhiqin, a young surgical oncologist in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, has recently become famous online after her anatomically correct sketch of the duodenum amazed thousands of netizens.

According to Fu, she usually explains surgery to her patients by showing them her sketched illustrations. Apart from doing medical illustrations, Fu enjoys drawing portraits in her spare time. “Drawing is an art, as is surgery. The artistry of surgery is to perfect every move during the operation to help patients recover from the illness as soon as possible,” said Fu.
