Zhang Xiaoliang is trying to capture every chance to spread his photos online these days about his home city of Xiamen. As a self-proclaimed city publicity volunteer, Zhang has left footprints in every corner of the island city and taken more than 100,000 photos over the past 10 years.
Photography is what Zhang Xiaoliang considered as a way of rediscovering Xiamen's exquisite natural scenery and vigorous urban activities. “I'm an amateur photographer and don't earn a living from taking photos,” Zhang told People's Daily Online, emphasizing that his only motivation is his personal interest in increasing the city's fame.
Zhang shares his photos for free with the hope that more people will get to know the beauty of Xiamen, especially at a time when the city is going to host the 9th BRICS summit early September where leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa will gather to discuss the future direction of the association for the next 10 years.
