On Nov. 23, the construction of a new residential community in Xindu District of Chengdu was in full swing. The residential area is the first fourth-generation housing project in China. The balcony of each apartment is home to a private garden, complete with greenery which looks impressive from above, and is also the first “vertical forest” residential community in the area. This generation of housing focuses on increasing the flat area available for planting, raising the rate of greenery and finding new space for the growth of plants, therefore developing vertical greening has become a useful measure to improve the ecological environment of modern cities.
