
SYDNEY, February 6th. (People's Daily Online)--On the evening of February 1st, BridgeClimb Sydney invited its Mandarin-speaking climb leaders and translators with their families and friends to celebrate Chinese New Year atop the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
Facing a steady drizzle, the special team climbed to the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge. Armed with Chinese New Year lanterns and accompanied by the blazing fireworks at the top of the 134-meter-high bridge, they welcomed the arrival of the Year of the Pig.
Climbers also enjoyed a surprise performance by Chinese singer and finalist in popular singing competition Sing! China, Gina Jiang, who serenaded guests with two songs: Wang Leehom’s Da Cheng Xiao Ai (大城小愛) and Luo Ye Gui Gen (落葉歸根).
According to Mr. Chris Zumwalt, CEO of Bridge Climb Sydney, the company is increasing daily Mandarin-language climb experiences during the festival, hoping to create memorable memories for local and tourist community. Guided by an enthusiastic. Mandarin-speaking Climb Leader, guests will learn about Sydney’s special connection to China and hear many inspiring stories to complement the stunning views.
Dean, a climbing leader who has worked for the BridgeClimb Sydney for 20 years, said that the climbing event is a good way to celebrate the Lunar New Year. As more and more Chinese come to Australia, celebrating the Lunar New Year has become part of Australian culture.
