Tourists experience sand therapy at a sand therapy center in Turpan, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, July 18, 2019. Every year from June to August, the highest temperature in Turpan reaches more than 45 degrees Celsius and the surface temperature of sand dunes could reach to 70 degrees Celsius, which is the best time for sand therapy. According to the statistics of Turpan City, more than 300,000 tourists come here for sand therapy every year. With the unique resources for sand therapy, the city makes efforts to build the "Sand Therapy Town" located in Shanghu Village of Ya'er Town in Gaochang District. The government encourages local people to develop sand therapy services, family inns, restaurants and stores, aiming to improve the local tourism and increase the income of the locals.
