CANBERRA, October 10 (People's Daily Online/ Xiaolin Xu) Floriade is regarded as the largest flower festival in the Southern Hemisphere held in Canberra, the capital of Australia. Themed at ‘World in Bloom’ this year, the ongoing 32nd event of Floriade opens daily from 14 September to 13 October 2019.
21 in-ground flowerbeds and over 189 portable raised flowerbeds are designed and positioned throughout Commonwealth Park. Inspired by diversified cultures worldwide, visitors would surprisingly encounter some familiar elements in various patterns made of flowers, such as the lotus pattern originating from Buddhism and the Celtic pattern of Ireland. It is expected that almost 500,000 visitors will take in the sea of flowers in Canberra over one month.
Except for a variety of display gardens, a program of horticulture workshops, music and entertainment are elaborately prepared and presented during the event. Visitors can enjoy music, food, and wine while immersing themselves in a riot of colors and flowers.
Meanwhile, keen gardeners can gain some expert tips or intriguing ideas from insightful presentations given by celebrity guests as well. As the sunsets over the Commonwealth Park, Floriade becomes an illuminated wonderland as NightFest returns with nights of entertainment, food, and more.
