WUHAN, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- China thrashed Canada 3-0 on Sunday to reach the women's volleyball semifinals at the 7th CISM Military World Games.
Gao Yi scored a game-high 12 points to lead the Chinese team to a 25-11, 25-5, 25-19 victory in Pool A with Li Yingying and Yang Junjing adding nine apiece.
"We are going for the title this time, but we have to take one match at a time. Now we are focusing on our next opponents," said Chinese head coach Wu Xiaojiang.
Earlier on Sunday, Brazil beat the United States in straight sets of 25-6, 25-14, 25-10 to finish second in Pool A.
DPR Korea overcame the Netherlands 3-0 (25-4, 25-13, 25-13) to lead Pool B with three wins in a row and Germany saw off France 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-22) for their second win in three matches and a berth in the top four.
China will take on Germany in Monday's semifinal while DPR Korea play against Brazil.
