A special train was arranged to take 497 migrant workers in southwest China’s Yunnan province to Guangzhou, capital of south China’s Guangdong province, where these migrant workers will be taken directly to the factories where they work, according to the human resources and social security department of Yunnan.
In an effort to help migrant workers return to their posts as soon as possible, the human resources and social security departments of Yunnan and Guangdong provinces have jointly launched a special train to provide a one-stop service for migrant workers in Yunnan.
On Feb.18, the special train made its maiden voyage from Kunmingnan Railway Station in Kunming, capital of Yunnan. The station set up a dedicated service team made up of 10 members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to help guide migrant workers to the special train, bring them beverages and carry their luggage for them.
“We have also arranged for more than 20 staff members and four sets of equipment to take people’s body temperatures and ensure there is sufficient disinfection and ventilation in the station, so that migrant workers can enjoy a safe, orderly, and pleasant trip,” said Wang Wenxia, an official at Kunmingnan Railway Station.
The special trip was funded by Yunnan’s human resources and social security department, which provided free tickets and food for all the migrant workers who took the train to Guangzhou.
According to a credible source, eight more special trains will be launched in the coming days to help migrant workers in Yunnan safely return to their posts in the Yangtze River Delta region and the Pearl River Delta region.
