HMS Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier

HMS Queen Elizabeth is the lead ship of the Queen Elizabeth-class of aircraft carrier, the largest warship ever built for the British Royal Navy. On July 4, 2014, she was named by Queen Elizabeth II, which marked the structural completion of the 65,000-tonne aircraft carrier. She will start sea trials in 2016 and are expected to enter service by 2020.

The warship has been designed with twin islands, which separates the running of the ship from the flying operations resulting in greater visibility of flying operations. She will provide the armed forces with a four-acre military operating base, which can travel up to 500 miles per day to be deployed anywhere around the world. She is also capable of carrying forty aircraft, operating the Joint Strike Fighter Lightning II jets and a number of types of helicopter.
