
BEIJING, June 23 -- The National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Tuesday evening issued a yellow alert for rainstorms in the next 24 hours.
Heavy rain will sweep parts of Guangxi, Guangdong, Hainan, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, Shandong, Anhui and Jiangsu from Tuesday night to Wednesday night, the NMC forecast.
It also warned of possible thunderstorms and gales in these areas.
The NMC on Tuesday morning issued a blue alert for Typhoon Kujira, which is moving northwest to Guangxi. On Monday afternoon it issued a yellow alert for Typhoon Kujira and a blue rain alert.
China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
