China is highly commended for its contribution in fighting Ebola in West Africa at African Union (AU) International Conference on Ebola concluded in Malabo, capital of Equatorial Guinea on July 21.
China has delivered humanitarian aid with a combined value of more than 120 million US dollars and sent 1200 medical workers to Ebola-affected counties and their neighboring countries since the breakout, said Jin Xiaotao, deputy head of the National Health and Family Planning Commission.
Ebola patients have decreased significantly and China has played an important role, said Tariq Jasarevic, spokesman of World Health Organization (WHO). He added WHO appreciates Chinese government’s aids and efforts in combating Ebola.
The Ebola outbreak in parts of West Africa is now the largest and most complex in the nearly four-decade history of the disease.It has now claimed more than 11,200 lives.
