The Guge Kingdom ruins lie in the mountains in the suburbs of Zanda County, Ngari Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region. Guge was an ancient kingdom reigning in western Tibet from the 10th century to 17th century. The kingdom abruptly disappeared in the 17th century, for a reason that remains unknown. The ruins of the Guge Kingdom were discovered in the 1980s, along with its marvelous temples, murals and statues. The ruins were repaired from 2011 to 2014. [Photo by Zhang Lulu/China.org.cn]
