About 200 officers and soldiers from China’s Air Forces have arrived in Tianjin earlier Thursday morning to provide emergency support and give out food and supplies to victims of the blast, according to Military News online.
They formed emergency medical group and relief supply group soon after they arrived at the scene, setting up tents as shelters for the victims and giving out food and supplies to the displaced residents.
Rescue efforts were seen in an orderly manner with the soldiers coordinating supports from both volunteers and the government.
Blasts that tore through a warehouse in Tianjin's port area in north China on Wednesday night have killed at least 50 people, 12 of whom were firemen. Another 701 people are still in hospital, many gravely ill.
Emergency personnel are continuing the search for the missing firefighters, but this is already one of the biggest losses of firemen in the line of duty for decades. Of the hundreds injured, most suffering from burns or broken bones, 71 are critically ill.
