Ten years ago, 23 -year-old American Dechen Yeshi visited Gannan, Gansu province, with her younger brother for the first time. They bought home two tons of yak wool from Maqu grassland for their mother, who is interested in textile.
Ten years later, Dechen and her mother set up a yak production base, 29 km away from Nita Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.Dechen run the workshop and train its personnel.
In 2008, Dechen Yeshi got married with a man in Gannan. Now she is a mother of two. She spends almost all her time running the brand Norlha in Gannan . Only in winter, they took their children back to the U.S.
Dechen makes a perfect bridge between the Tibetan village community and the demands of a modern luxury market.
