Due to the sudden change of weather, herdsmen in Altay Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have started their autumnal migration since the middle of September.
The so-called autumnal transition means that herdsmen need a place for grazing when they migrate from summer pastures to winter pastures to make preparations for the cattle's dipping.
The quarterly migration of the Kazak people is particularly spectacular. With the change of seasons, Kazak herdsmen carrying their children and relatives by horses and camels and migrate to wherever water and grass are available.
Horses are an indispensable part of Kazak's life. They are also witness of the history of the Kazak's social prosperity and progress.
