
A new type of large-tonnage comprehensive supply ship GY820 has been put into service in Sansha, south China's Hainan province. The supply ship is used for tasks including replenishment, equipment transfer and maritime rescue.
According to a report by CCTV, GY820 is 14.6 meters in width, 90 meters in length and has a displacement up to 2,700 tons. Different from previous ships in service, this type of ship can carry tanks and a platform for helicopters.
Furthermore, the ship has a strong ability to resist the wind and harsh maritime environment.
