China's naval hospital ship Peace Ark arrived in St. George's, capital of Grenada for a seven-day visit and free medical and humanitarian service on the morning of Dec. 5, according to a report by China News Service.
St. George's is the sixth stop of Harmonious Mission-2015. Nearly 100 people including officials from Grenada government, China's ambassador to Grenada, local Chinese and representatives from China-funded enterprises welcomed the ship on the wharf.
According to the schedule, China and Grenada will communicate and exchange in the field of medicine and culture.
This is the first time for a Chinese naval ship to visit Grenada. Grenada is an island country consisting of Grenada itself and six smaller islands at the southern end of the Grenadines in the southeastern Caribbean Sea.
Grenada is also known as the "Island of Spice" because of the production of nutmeg and mace crops of which it is one of the world's largest exporters. Its size is 344 square kilometers, with an estimated population of 110,000.
This is the fifth Harmonious Mission task carried out by the hospital ship Peace Ark after it set sail from its home port Zhoushan in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014 respectively to perform the missions.
