National Geographic Magazine has complied its annual 'Photo of the Day' roundup for 2015

It includes snaps taken by staff photographers and members of its 'Your Shot' photo community

Community members have captured amazing moments, including a snappy penguin and a luminous lake

National Geographic has picked its top nature photographs for 2015, including jawdropping shots of frozen lakes, jelly fish and a very snappy penguin.

Compiled from its Photo of the Day feature, the magazine has chosen some of its favorite images of 2015 taken by both the publication's staff photographers and its Your Shot online photo community.

One taken by a community member using a GoPro, captures the moment a penguin on Antarctica mistook the camera equipment for food, resulting in an equal parts terrifying and fascinating photo.

Another, taken underwater in a lake on a remote island in the Western Pacific sees a young woman surrounded by yellow jellyfish.

Others showcase the wonders of nature, such as luminous plankton by the seaside in Iran and the northern lights of Iceland.
