Photos showing a train running through a field of flowers near the Juyongguan Pass of the Great Wall in Beijing recently went viral online. Since the photos have become so popular, many photographers have come to Juyongguan Pass to capture the beautiful spring scenery. However, the best shooting location — the mountain road — has been temporarily closed.
The local government confirmed the news. An official offered a statement on the matter, saying that as the beautiful landscape became a sudden sensation, the number of tourists shot up to several times that of past years. Yesterday alone, the number of the tourists was more than 1,000.
Some visitors have been standing too close to the train in order to capture the perfect shot, which has forced the train to stop on more than one occasion. Other tourists insist on smoking, which is a major fire hazard in the middle of the forest.
According to the government official, it's difficult to maintain order with only the supervision of current forest rangers, as so many more tourists are present than in previous years. The temporary measure of closing the mountain road was therefore approved out of necessity. The closing period will likely last at least through the Qingming Festival. A re-opening date has not yet been confirmed.
