
China's top nuclear official has introduced China's efforts in nuclear safety cooperation at the nuclear security summit in Washington. And the US Secretary of Energy expressed the willingness to and confidence in working with China on nuclear issues.
"During the last nuclear security summit in The Hague, President Xi Jinping proposed a 'rational, coordinated and balanced' nuclear security approach. That was a major contribution of China on world's nuclear security. The China Institute of Atomic Energy completed the conversion of the highly enriched uranium research reactor to using low enriched uranium."
"China is also working on producing low enriched uranium fuel for the Ghana reactor. We have been working with the IAEA to organize many nuclear safety seminars in more than a dozen countries in the Asia-Pacific region. More than 200 nuclear professionals were trained by us," said Xu Dazhe, chairman of China Atomic Energy Authority.
