On October 7, 2014, Jinggu Dai and Yi Autonomous County of Pu’er City was hit by a 6.6-magnitude earthquake, causing 124,600 people to be hit by the natural calamity. As a result, the classic traditional Dai village – Qiannuo Stockaded Village of Yongping Town in Jinggu – suffered severe damages. 107 residences were severely damaged. After one-year reconstruction, new houses in Dai style are now well-spaced. In front of the village, people have also built a fish pond for sightseeing, a cultural square and a big golden pagoda. The village leans on a landscape forest and faces a vast fertile land, thus forming a pastoral landscape painting in Dai style.
According to the construction standard of “Beautiful Villages”, Jinggu collectively builds 38 reconstructed demonstration stockaded villages such as Qiannuo, Qiqizu, Mangpan, Xiaqianmao and so on, so as to motivate more villages to build their beautiful homes through the success of demonstration villages.
