The Citrus Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences has developed a new type of citrus called “Wo Citrus”. Kangping Town and Pingcun Shiban Stockaded Village of Jiangcheng Hani and Yi Autonomous County of Pu’er City have been chosen as the planting locations. At present, the base has a cultivated area up to 3,000 mu.
Wo Citrus is very delicious, rich in sugar and contains high concentration of trace elements necessary for human bodies such as vitamin C, calcium and so on, so it is deeply favored by consumers and is popular on the market.
The main reason why Jiangcheng has been chosen for the cultivation of Wo Citrus is its privileged natural resources and unique geographic location, as well as its efforts to develop specialty agriculture on the plateau.
