The Arts program for this year's G20 summit is scheduled to open tonight by West Lake in Hangzhou. The 6th act in the lineup made known by the CCTV news APP, is a performance of the song "Me and my country" by famous singer, Liao Changyong and Xu Ziqi, a 8-year-old girl born in Hangzhou.
Xu was born in 2008 and she will attend the second grade in the coming school year, according to a news report. Her mother told reporters that she felt very lucky that Xu was chosen out of over 20 girls under 12 by the director, Zhang Yimou to perform at the show.
Tiao Yimiao, a professor from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, noted that children's voices, representing pureness and the yearning for peace, are often used in large-scale shows in China and abroad. However, the combination of a baritone accompanied by a child and a symphony is fresh genre worthy of anticipation.
The show program of the G20 was directed by famous director Zhang Yimou who also directed the opening ceremony of 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games. To present the world with a program that highlights the themes of the summit, special elements of West Lake in Hangzhou, and traditional Chinese characters in the show, it took almost a year to prepare.
