Wuhan, the capital city of central China’s Hubei province most affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, is making a variety of preparations as it prepares to lift outbound travel curbs from April 8, Hubei Daily reported.

Starting from March 25, over 1,000 railway maintenance workers in Wuhan returned to their positions and began rechecking the 230 high-speed trains.

The Wuhan high-speed railway base will disinfect and ventilate the workplace on a daily basis, take the temperatures of employees and report the places they have been to and people they have had contact with to reduce the risks of virus transmission amid the resumption of work.

Railway workers are also required to disinfect the trains thoroughly, and clean and replace the trains’ air filters together with the epidemic prevention department.

Meanwhile, the railway police will check the electronic health codes of passengers and ensure that they leave Wuhan in an orderly and safe manner.
