Long came to Shenzhen from Hunan Province in 1997. After working in a furniture factory for a while, he became a taxi driver in 2000. Insisting on learning English by himself during spare time out of interest, he found it useful when more and more foreigners came to Shenzhen. In 2018, his taxi was changed to an electric car. Long witnessed the development of Shenzhen on the wheel throughout the years. When China established the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone in 1980, its population was less than 30,000. Forty years later, it has developed into the biggest immigrant city in China housing 13 million with its GDP hitting 2.69 trillion yuan (about 389.4 billion U.S. dollars). (Xinhua)
