
ZHENGZHOU, June 25 -- The death toll from an apartment fire in central China's Henan province has risen to 13, said local authorities on Thursday.
Another four people were injured in the accident and are being treated in a local hospital.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of a seven-storey apartment building in downtown Zhengzhou, Henan's capital. It started in an electricity meter box.
The building contains to some 30 to 40 households, witnesses said.
The fire was put out Thursday morning, while further investigation is underway.
